Picnics on the sand
A picnic at your favourite spot- beach, park, backyard or just set up in your lounge room on a rainy day (the latter two may be your only option for now).
It’s getting cooler in Noosa, so a late lunch in the sunshine is a perfect way to spend your afternoon.
what you need:
a sturdy basket filled with all you’ll need for a few hours soaking up the sun (VF loves ethical Made in Mada or any of the beautiful baskets from CLO Studios)
a picnic rug (pictured is a very loved Wandering Folk rug) or a few towels
pillows and maybe a blanket
your favourite snacks (VF loves corn chips, veggie sticks and homemade dips and seasonal fruit)
salads (if you live in Noosa check out VanillaFood at Belmondos for the salads of the day- always fresh, healthy, wholesome and delicious)- phone ahead and the friendly staff can get your order ready
cutlery and plates (just choose some from the kitchen- there’s no need for single use plastics)
a few games (cards and frisbee are always fun)
Nilla says,
“It’s the fresh ingredients and DEFINITELY the dressings that make our salads so yummy”
The team at VanillaFood can prepare wholesome, delicious salads, tarts sweets and smoothies for any event.
The catering menu is perfect for picnics and afternoon BBQs. The food is simple, but very nourishing. The serving sizes are generous and will leave you feeling happy and healthy (the catering menu has been modified due to the covid-19 crisis).
Staff favourites include:
Vegan Paleo Pizza: buy a whole tart from the catering menu or choose a slice or 2 from the display cabinet at the Belmondos Organic Market cafe
Salads: all VF salads are fresh, healthy, full of flavour and will leave you feeling nourished, phone VF at Belmondos and see what is currently available
Smoothies: the Vitamin A is always a favourite. YUM.
For you guys here’s the VF recipe for a local favourite:
BUTTERFLY PEA PROTEIN SMOOTHIE
1t butterfly pea powder (can be purchased online or at select health food stores)
1T of your favourite vanilla protein (we love Amazonia vanilla rice protein)
1 frozen banana
A handful of frozen blueberries
A cup or 2 of coconut milk (depending on how thick you like it)
Blend all ingredients until smooth
Pour mixture in to a jar
Top with chia seeds and edible flowers.
DELICIOUS xo

The Noosa Junction cafe is currently closed.
If you’re after some VF take away phone the Belmondos cafe or pop in for a quick visit (keep in mind opening hours have been reduced).
(this post was initially intended to get you and a bunch of your mates to enjoy the sunshine at your favourite picnic spot before winter sets in. It has now been edited to suit the current covid-19 crisis.)
So for now get inspired by these images of a previous VanillaFood picnic.
